First Time Ever! Intel Itanium and Microsoft Beta 2 Windows .NET Server Rev Up on Unisys ES7000

64-bit SAS applications demonstrate revolutionary server capabilities and unprecedented power at first public event

Unisys will hold the first public demonstration of 64-bit applications running Microsoft Windows .NET Server operating system on its 32-processor ES7000 Server during the Intel Developer Forum (IDF) -- August 27-30, 2001. This demonstration will use SAS/Insight and WebHound business intelligence software. At IDF, the Unisys e-@ction Enterprise Server ES7000 features Itanium processors running a 64-bit version of Windows .NET Server, designed specifically for Itanium-based systems. The demo includes SAS' WebHound application on 28-processors and SAS/Insight on the remaining four processors of the 32-processor system. This illustrates how the ES7000's scalability also is ideal for newly developed 64-bit applications by leading Independent Software Vendors (ISV), many of which will require enhanced memory management and increased I/O capacity. It provides a particularly attractive offering for applications requiring large memory environments, arithmetically intensive support, extensive security and functions that benefit from a more powerful processor.
